Yeast Infections – Home Cures

by: Christine Michaels

Home cures for yeast infection are definitely worth investigating because they do not involve as many side effects as drug treatments. Some of the various home cures for yeast infection may be familiar to you while others are less commonly know. Some people try homeopathy, which is usually not harmful.

If you are prone to yeast infections, natural cures are definitely worth looking into as it is likely they will provide the results you need without any of the side-effects possible from taking medication to cure yeast infection. For yeast infections, natural cures are wide and varied. Some may be familiar to you and others a little less well-known. There are also some homeopathic remedies, which you might want to try. These are very clean and safe.

Things to Avoid

If one is suffering from a yeast infection, there are particular practices which are best to refrain from. One of the best home cures for yeast infection is to revise your daily diet. It is best to cut out beer and other fermented drinks and reduce alcohol consumption overall. Coffee is also bad for a yeast infection. Processed foods do not help and refined sugar is very bad as the yeast feeds on it. One more thing to avoid is tight fitting clothes and underwear, which promote the conditions (warm, moist) that allow the Candida Albicans Organism to grow and spread.

If a yeast infection has spread quickly already, the practice of avoidance may not be enough to tackle the problem. There are various steps you can take to fight the infection, though, so don't worry. Apple cider vinegar is one of the most common home cures for yeast infection. Having a soak in a bath with a cup of this added is sure to provide great relief.

Tea Tree Oil is another favorite of the home cures for yeast infection. Simply get a tampon and apply a few drops of tea tree oil to it then insert as normal. You may want to do this twice per day, leaving it in for about twenty minutes each time. You can also leave one in overnight to help you sleep.

Another home yeast infection cure is yogurt. Make sure there are active cultures in the variety you use and that it is sugar-free. You are sure to notice a lot of relief if you apply this to the vagina a few times every day. Honey is sometimes advised in the same way as a home cure for yeast infection but remember that refined sugar is bad. Look for honey, which is low in sucrose and has no added sugar.

It will certainly help if you turn your attention to lifestyle. Many people find yoga very effective as part of a home yeast infection cure. Yoga uses techniques to lower stress, improve posture, eliminate toxins and maintain overall good health. Mental and physical wellbeing achieved from practicing yoga can form an important part of beating yeast infection.

Finally, consider any special circumstances with your health. You might consider stopping or changing the type of birth control you use and see how that effects your health. Also, if you are diabetic, you may want to investigate what role this plays in the case of yeast infection. Blood sugar levels should be closely controlled.
